The 2nd Edition of the Shillong Literary Festival was inaugurated in 2022 at Ward’s Lake, Shillong. Hon’ble Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma explained that while the festival was initially planned as an annual event starting in 2018-2019, however, COVID pandemic delayed its launch for the previous years. The Chief Minister added that it is not just about the events but part of a larger plan to move the State forward and positively engage the children and youth.
The event offered a unique opportunity for all to interact with writers, artists, filmmakers, and other notable personalities. The 2nd Edition started with a tribute to Temsula Ao’s life and work. Notable speakers included Indian actor and athlete Rahul Bose, Indian investigative journalist and author Vidhya Krishnan, Indian poet, and author Easterine Kire, novelist and scriptwriter Christopher Kloeble, an Indian-English poet, novelist, short story writer, and translator, as well as journalist. However, the Shillong Literary Festival was formally cancelled and shortened to one day due to unfortunate circumstances
